FIRST THING FIRST: a very happy new year. May 2021 be a year of brightness & happiness for all of us, Ameen.
I'm a bookstagrammer since 2018. Not a very professional one but I do consider myself to give out some advices to you guys. Here's me spilling some tea:
TAKE ATTRACTIVE PHOTOS: For doing that, you would not need a very professional camera or anything super expensive. Your regular phone will do the job for now. Start experimenting with different angles and lightening. Use props that are easily found around you (blankets, books, flowers, cups etc)
BE CONSISTENT: When joining a new community, you need to be clear of your vision and be consistent in what you are doing. Post regularly or after one day. People will notice you eventually and welcome you. Mind you, bookstagram community is very welcoming!
INTERACT, INTERACT, INTERACT: To get something, you need to be willing to give them back. That's how Instagram works. Like, comment & share your fellow bookstagrammers posts and they will do the same for you. This way both will be benefitted and exposed to greater audience.
ATTRACTIVE CAPTIONS: Think of some really attractive and engaging captions to write under your pictures that will compel people to respond to it. Use your phone notes to record questions whenever they click your mind.
TAKE PART IN CHALLENGES: There are multiple challenges and rep searches happening around bookstagram all the time. Try participating in some of the interesting ones. That way you will be recognized by different accounts.
USE HASHTAGS: The use of common, unique and relatable hashtags is very important. Try using a mix of big and small hashtags to use with your photos. Trust me, that makes a difference.
ENGAGEMENT GROUPS: There are multiple groups where different people are added who comment on your photo each time you post. In return, you are required to do the same. It is a great way to connect with diverse form of bookstagram accounts.
TAG AUTHORS/ PUBLISHERS/ BOOKSTORES: When you post a book review or simply took a picture of a certain book, always tag the publisher, author or the bookstore. They usually have big fan following and if they notice you and repost your stuff, you will be recognized by hundreds!
Here were some tips or things-to-do while bookstagramming. Always remember to have fun while doing it and never take it as a burden. If it becomes one, take a break!
See you next time xx
